      James Cook was an English explorer, navigator and cartographer。 He was born in a poor peasant family in England on October 27, 1728。
       He joined The Royal British Navy in 1750。 During 1760-1779, he was involved in nearly 20 years of expedition。 Among which he had been to the Pacific Ocean three times during 1768-1779, in which he discovered what is known as Australia and New Zealand today。
       On February 14, 1779, he was killed by the native on an island known as Hawaiian Islands of America today。 James Cook had made a great contribution to the exploration work of mankind。
       In order to commemorate this great explorer and navigator, some places in the Pacific Ocean and one of the university in Australia were named after him。
