在语言和文化的研究方面有两种提法：“语言与文化”“文化中的语言”。
  There mention two expressions on the study of language and culture:"Language and Culture" and "Language in the Culture"。为了界定语言与其它文化现象（phenomena）的关系，有的语言学家将文化分成两大范畴：“大文化”和“小文化”。
   To define the relationship between language and other phenomenon of culture,some linguisticians devide culture into two categories:"Big Cutlture" and "Small Culture"。
  语言是文化的一个特殊组成部分，属于人类总体文化，即大文化的范畴。可以认为语言是人与人交际的工具，它随着人类的发展而发展。Language is a special component of culture and belongs to human being's collective culture,or the category of Big Culture,which could be taken for as a communicating tool among people and develop with the human being。
  从小文化角度来看，语言和文化是同步发生的，语言是文化形成和发展的前提。From the Small Culture,language and culture are synchronizingly produced。Language is the forming and developing premise of culture。
  但这两种观点至今也没有定论，虽然如此，人们却对一些观点达成共识，即语言是文化的载体。Although there is without verdict about these two kinds of viewpoints,people has reached their unanimity that language is the carrier of culture。
